Kevin Kylus - Head Coach Coach Kylus steps up to take the lead role as Head Coach in his ninth year of coaching at Northeast. He graduated from Bowie High School where he was a member of the undefeated PG County Championship Team. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Physical Education. While at UM, he was a student assistant coach working with the defensive backs. Coach Kylus will also be responsible for the Special Teams, maybe even bringing back the Special Forces Award? Coach Kylus is currently a PE teacher at Northeast. He lives in Crofton with his wife Amy and their two children, Christopher and Kaitlyn.
Steve Ward - Assistant Head Coach Coach Ward returns for his 10th season at Northeast. He will be working more closely with the varsity team this year, especially the offense, in addition to his usual Running Backs coaching duties. Before coaching at Northeast, Steve coached with the Buccaneers program for 12 years and also served Bucs President from 94-98. Steve remains involved with the Buccaneer program. He is an alumnus of Glen Burnie High School, where he played football and baseball. Coach Ward lives in Pasadena with his wife Mary and their kids, Drew and Mandie. Steve works for the Department of Defense.
Jeff Warren - Offensive Coordinator Coach Warren returns to Northeast as the Offensive Coordinator. He played for Pallotti High School, 88-90 and during that period the Panthers were 24-6 including a 10-0 record and Washington Post Top 20 finish in 1989. Jeff served as a graduate assistant from 91-93. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps and served four years on active duty. In 98 he returned to Pallotti and served as the quarterbacks coach until 2001. During his coaching tenure at Pallotti, three quarterbacks made the PG All-County team. He came to Northeast in 2001. He lives in Pasadena with his wife Becky and two children, Peyton and Campbell.
Kevin Franc - JV Head Coach Coach Franc is a Leonardtown High School graduate where he played football and baseball. After graduating, he attended Frostburg State University and played four years of baseball and graduated with a degree in History and a degree in Social Science. He is currently teaching Social Studies at Northeast and looks forward to helping both in the school and on the playing fields.
Larry Schmidt - JV Offensive/Defensive Line Coach Coach Schmidt returns for his 9th season with the JV team coaching the offensive and defensive lines. Coach Schmidt coached football and lacrosse with the Buccaneers Athletic Club from 1992 – 1999 where he also served seven years as the football director and two years as the lacrosse director. Coach Schmidt is a class of ‘74 Northeast graduate and a 26 year veteran police officer with the Baltimore City Police Department. He is currently assigned to the Baltimore Police Athletic League, since 1998. Coach Schmidt is a Pasadena resident where he lives with his wife Donna. Between them they have six children.
Mike Knipp - JV Wide out and Defensive Secondary Coach Coach Knipp was born in Baltimore and started his football career with the Pasadena Chargers. He then moved to Pennsylvania were he played football at York County Area Vocational-Technical High School. After graduation, he attended McDaniel College where he also played football. He then played semi-pro ball for the Metro Longhorns and then three years for the Anne Arundel County Admirals. He began his coaching career for the Upper Adams Dragons and then moved on to the Maryland City Mustangs for a year. He for the past six years, he has worked for the Anne Arundel County Public School system.
Mark McCalpin - Varsity Coach
Coach McCalpin
is joining the Northeast squad this year as a defensive secondary
coach. Mark is a native of Pennsylvania where he graduated from Altoona
High School. While playing football at Altoona for the #5 team in East
according to USA today, he was named District 6-9 defensive player by
the coaches association. He currently teaches elementary school at
Georgetown East Elementary in Annapolis and serves as the Head Coach for
the Northeast Wrestling Team.
Chris Dyke - Varsity Wide out/Defensive Secondary Coach Coach Dyke is a first year Coach this year, but no
stranger to Northeast Football. He graduated from Northeast in 2003, and
received All-County honors for football both his Junior and Senior years. He
is also the assistant wrestling coach at Northeast, where he also received
All-County honors and was a State placer for Northeast. He is the Varsity
wide receivers coach also assists with the defensive backs. Coach Dyke
served four years in the United States Marines Corps and is happy to be back
living in Pasadena with his 3 year old son Ayden. He is currently attends
